The Charu Lochan Dass brand launched back in 2013 with a bang, and the designer has continued to wow us, or at least me. The designer was born in India but moved to Trinidad as a young child, and her designs reflect her background. Since the Caribbean is a melting pot of cultures, it is interesting to see how they are expressed through fashion and art and I definitely think that CLD’s expression is aesthetically pleasing.

Destination brides have bridal identities too! Just because the bride is having a destination wedding does not always mean that she will be clad in typical resort wear of typical materials and shades of white.  Obvious images that grace the cover of some wedding magazine or cover story with exclusive photos of the random celebrity and her destination wedding in her common tropical inspired wedding dress comes to mind .

A beautifully executed Fashion show held at the beautifully designed Drew Manor. On Sunday 27th November, 2016,, CLD in collaboration with The Flower Bar presented “Le Tapis Rouge” Floral & Fashion Show where CLD celebrated its 3 year anniversary and launched a brand new collection. Charu Lohan Dass, the star of the night also showcased Mr. Brian Mac Farlane pieces at her event also.

CLD 2016/17 Safari inspired collection launched collection at New York Fashion Week showed nothing less than pure elegance and poise of the CLD woman! This collection was Safari Inspired and included many earthy tones which was very much in line with colour trend predictions for 2016/7 on the International Runway .

So another local Trinidad and Tobago designer I’ve fallen in love with is Charu Lochan Dass.

Born in India, but now a Trinidad based designer, Charu Lochan Dass started her journey into the world of fashion at an early age, as she has always been passionate about art, beauty and fashion.  Merging her exquisite skill for painting and sketching, with a natural instinct for fashion and style, she pursued a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing at the London College of Fashion in the UK.

When Trinidad and Tobago-based Fashion Designer, Charu Lochan Dass asked www.trinidadweddings.com to partner with her for her first anniversary party, and bring over some of our TW Wed-Zine magazines,  there was just no way we could refuse. 

We are die-hard supporters of local fashion and we have been especially impressed with her label - CLD, ever since she launched last year. 

Charu Lochan Dass, born in India, is a talented fashion designer from Trinidad and Tobago. She was quite young when she was introduced into the world of fashion, being passionate about art, beauty and fashion as long as she can remember. She is a Fashion Design and Marketing graduate from the London College of Fashion. After completing her fashion degree in 2011, she started creating her self-entitled brand CLD (Charu Lochan Dass).

The magazine’s latest issue features as “Ask Martha” column, as well as local designer Charu Lochan Dass, who designed her first wedding dress exclusively for the cover of Volum 3, Issue 1 of Belle WEDDINGS.

 Only five months old, CLD has fast emerged as one of the hottest labels in the local fashion scene. The brand officially launched in late November 2013 at Aria Lounge, debuting its inaugural collection of impeccably created pieces epitomising elegance, class and fine taste, with just the right amount of sensuality. This one show generated widespread, glowing reviews from critics and fashion enthusiasts alike, and truly put CLD on the fashion map.
